Meet Quilter Sandy Malamed

Since 1975, Steve Smithers has researched and practiced the classic art of silversmithing. Through the process of performing restorations and conservations on early metal objects, he acquired an understanding of the original working methods used by the masters of the art. This process has influenced the design, construction, and craftsmanship of his own pieces and historically accurate replicas of the works of many of America’s most noted silversmiths.  Steve Smithers has chosen to work with and acquire knowledge of silver, bronze and brass pieces made prior to the industrial revolution. The insight gained has allowed Steve Smithers to understand and rediscover the soul of the work performed by the masters of yesterday; where the essence of the process is pride of workmanship and the care taken in the quality of each hand-wrought creation.

Meet Deborah Hartwick - Whimisical Artist

Deborah's work is whimsically designed, sewn art pincushions and emerys using the same blend of color and texture that evoke the antique sewing pieces of the past. Her artwork is made using natural fabrics like cotton and wool and then a dyeing and over dyeing technique, finally and stuffed with sawdust and emery powder.
